Initiation Safety Devices

Our Ignition Safety Devices (ISDs) are designed for motor safety and ignition, containing no explosive material to reduce mechanical shock and improve performance. They are ITAR-free, using a LEEFI-based electronic ignition system for direct pyrogen ignition. Compliant with IM, they can be removable or integrated, enhancing flexibility and safety in motor initiation.

Micro Fuzes

With ongoing advancements in technology and electronics, we've achieved a significant reduction in volume sizing. Our new compact electronic fuze systems offer a new dimension to meet our customers' evolving needs. Known as micro fuzes, these small, versatile packages can be integrated into various products, such as drones and complex micro weapons.

Active Vehicle Safety Systems

By leveraging technological advancements and user insights, we have developed an external retrofit protection system for land vehicles. This unpowered, inert system activates only when needed, ensuring safety to users and those within close proximity. It's a recent innovation, extending our capabilities to support other active protection systems.

Flight Termination Units

Our Flight Termination Units (FTUs) and Termination Breakup Units (TBUs) are designed for modern avionics programs, ensuring safe missile and hardware breakup. They can be triggered by a termination signal or environmental factors. With a proven track record, they suit high-G military and LEO applications, often interlinked with Teledyne's cabling and detonators, including our EBW range for extended distances.

Our Story

Teledyne Energetics UK has been a leader in safety, arming, and initiation technology since 1984. Our journey began with funding Exploding Foil Initiator (EFI) technology alongside RARDE (now QinetiQ and DSTL), building on Teledyne e2v's high-speed switch tube technology. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, we focused on EFI initiator research, explosive material characterization, and firing circuit development, enhancing secondary explosive techniques. In 1994, we secured our first contract for an electronic safety and arming unit (ESAU) with an EFI detonator, leading to a long-established production.

Today, we supply electronic Safe Arming & Initiation Devices (eSAID) and Ignition Safety Devices (eISD) to over 30 active and established systems, including torpedoes, missiles, and EOD systems. We also support new Space Launch Vehicles with precision initiation systems. Ongoing research into Low Energy EFIs and next-generation micro-electronic safety systems ensures our future portfolio.
